Description

This Veal Taco Crescent Ring is a savory and fun twist on traditional tacos, featuring seasoned ground veal baked inside a buttery crescent roll ring. Perfect for parties or family dinners, this recipe combines delicious taco flavors with the flaky texture of crescent dough, topped with melted cheese and green onions for a crowd-pleasing dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Seasoning

  • 1 pound ground veal
  • 1 ounce taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup water

Dairy and Vegetables

  • 1 cup taco blend cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup green onions, sliced

Dough and Egg Wash

  • 16 ounces refrigerated crescent rolls (2 cans, 8 oz each)
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) so it’s ready for baking the crescent ring.
  2. Cook the Veal: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the ground veal. Cook the veal thoroughly, breaking it apart with a spoon, until no longer pink and fully cooked through.
  3. Season the Meat: Stir in the taco seasoning mix and water with the cooked veal. Simmer the mixture for 3 to 4 minutes until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Prepare Crescent Dough: Unroll both cans of crescent dough and separate into 16 triangles. Allow the dough to soften slightly at room temperature for easier handling.
  5. Arrange Dough on Baking Sheet: Spray a large cookie sheet with non-stick spray. Arrange the triangles into a circle with the shorter sides forming a 5-inch circle in the center and the points facing outward, overlapping the dough triangles slightly.
  6. Add Filling: Spoon the veal mixture evenly along the widest edge of each triangle. Sprinkle the sliced green onions and shredded taco blend cheese over the meat filling.
  7. Fold and Seal: Fold the pointed end of each dough triangle over the filling and tuck it under the inside edge of the ring to secure the filling inside the crescent dough.
  8. Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk the egg and brush it over the top of the crescent dough ring to achieve a shiny, golden finish when baked.
  9. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the crescent ring is golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Cool and Serve: Let the crescent ring cool for about 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with your favorite taco toppings.

Notes

  • Allowing the crescent dough to soften slightly helps make it easier to fold and prevents tearing.
  • Use a non-stick spray or parchment paper on your baking sheet to avoid sticking.
  • You can customize the taco seasoning to your preference or make your own homemade blend.
  • Serve with salsa, sour cream, guacamole, or jalapeños for extra flavor.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and gently reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
