Ingredients
Scale
Carrots
- 2 lbs baby carrots
Glaze
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Garnish
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Slow Cooker: Lightly grease the bottom of the slow cooker to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Add Carrots: Place the 2 lbs of baby carrots evenly into the greased slow cooker.
- Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter, maple syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is homogenous.
- Coat the Carrots: Pour the glaze over the carrots in the slow cooker and toss or stir gently to coat the carrots evenly with the sweet mixture.
- Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 2-3 hours until the carrots are tender and the glaze is bubbly and caramelized. Stir once or twice during cooking to redistribute the glaze.
- Serve: Transfer the glazed carrots to a serving dish, drizzle with any remaining glaze from the slow cooker, and garnish with chopped fresh parsley for color and added freshness if desired.
Notes
- Use baby carrots for even cooking and a nice texture.
- Adjust cooking time based on your slow cooker model; check tenderness accordingly.
- The glaze can be made ahead and refrigerated; warm slightly before pouring over carrots.
- Optional garnishing with fresh parsley adds a bright contrast to the sweetness.
- For a bit of heat, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to the glaze.
