Description

This hearty Pizza Chili combines the bold flavors of pizza with the comforting warmth of chili. Ground beef, spicy Italian sausage, pepperoni slices, and a blend of pizza sauce and chili beans come together to create a deliciously unique dish perfect for a crowd or family meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ lb hot Italian sausage
    • Vegetables and Aromatics

      • 2 garlic cloves, minced
      • 2 Tbsp dried minced onion flakes

      Liquids and Sauces

      • 1 cup salsa
      • 1 cup pizza sauce
      • ½ cup water

      Other

      • 1 (15-oz) can hot chili beans, undrained
      • 1 cup pepperoni slices, cut in half
      • 1 Tbsp chili powder
      • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the meat: In a Dutch oven over medium heat, cook the ground beef and hot Italian sausage until they are no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add garlic: Add minced garlic to the meat in the Dutch oven and cook for 30 seconds to release the aroma.
  3. Combine ingredients: Stir in the dried minced onion flakes, salsa, undrained chili beans, pizza sauce, halved pepperoni slices, water, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly to combine all flavors.
  4. Simmer: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and let it simmer gently for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through and flavors meld together.

Notes

  • You can adjust the spiciness by using mild sausage or reducing chili powder.
  • Serve with shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions for added garnish.
  • This chili pairs well with crusty bread or tortilla chips for dipping.
  • For a thicker chili, simmer longer or reduce the amount of water.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
