Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 1 pound (2 cups) unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch Bundt pan or tube pan thoroughly to ensure the cake won’t stick.
- Cream butter and sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together on medium speed until the mixture is light, fluffy, and creamy, approximately 4–5 minutes.
- Add eggs: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition to fully incorporate and maintain a smooth batter.
- Incorporate dry and wet ingredients: Gradually add the flour to the batter, alternating with milk, starting and ending with the flour. Mix gently just until the ingredients are combined to avoid overworking the batter.
- Add extracts: Stir in the almond extract and vanilla extract evenly into the batter to enhance the flavor.
- Fill pan and bake: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared Bundt pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 30 minutes to 1 hour and 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool the cake: Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes. Then carefully invert the cake onto a wire rack and cool completely before serving.
Notes
- For extra decadence, dust the cooled cake with powdered sugar or serve with fresh berries and whipped cream.
- This pound cake freezes beautifully and often tastes even better the next day once the flavors have melded.
