Description

This Ground Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry is a quick, flavorful dish combining lean ground beef with fresh broccoli in a savory garlic-ginger soy sauce. Ready in 30 minutes, it’s perfect for a wholesome weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Protein

  • 1 lb lean ground beef

Vegetables

  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sauce and Seasonings

  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Chop the broccoli into florets, mince the garlic cloves, and grate the ginger to have all ingredients ready for cooking.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the lean ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until browned and fully cooked through.
  3. Add Aromatics: Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for about 1 minute until fragrant to infuse the beef with flavor.
  4. Add Broccoli and Sauce: Toss in the broccoli florets, soy sauce, and toasted sesame oil. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the broccoli turns bright green and is tender-crisp.
  5. Thicken the Sauce: Pour the cornstarch slurry into the skillet while stirring constantly to slightly thicken the sauce, giving it a nice glaze.
  6. Finish and Serve: Remove the skillet from the heat. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of chili sauce.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt levels.
  • Make sure not to overcook broccoli to maintain its crunch and nutrients.
  • This dish can easily be made gluten-free by using tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated on the stovetop or microwave.
