Ingredients
Scale
Tea Mixture
- 6 Earl Grey tea bags
- 1½ cups boiling water
- 2 tablespoons honey or sugar
Mascarpone Cream
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz mascarpone cheese, softened
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Assembly
- 24–30 ladyfinger cookies (savoiardi)
- Cocoa powder or finely ground Earl Grey tea leaves for dusting
Instructions
- Steep the Tea: Steep the Earl Grey tea bags in 1½ cups of boiling water for 5–7 minutes to extract a rich flavor. Remove the tea bags and stir in honey or sugar until dissolved. Allow the tea to cool completely before using to avoid soggy ladyfingers.
- Whip the Cream: In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, ensuring a light and airy texture for the mascarpone cream.
- Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture: In a separate bowl, beat the softened mascarpone cheese together with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. This creates the luscious base of the dessert.
- Fold Ingredients Together: Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined, maintaining the mixture’s lightness.
- Dip Ladyfingers: Briefly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled Earl Grey tea—just a quick dip to avoid soaking, preserving the cookie’s texture.
- Layer the Dessert: Arrange a layer of the dipped ladyfingers at the bottom of a 9×9-inch dish or individual serving cups. Spread half of the mascarpone cream evenly over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat Layers: Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers on top of the mascarpone cream, then spread the remaining mascarpone mixture over this second layer.
- Finish and Chill: Smooth the top layer and dust liberally with cocoa powder or finely crushed Earl Grey tea leaves to enhance presentation and flavor. Refrigerate the assembled tiramisu for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld and the dessert to set.
Notes
- For a stronger tea flavor, steep the tea longer or use additional tea bags.
- To keep this dessert alcohol-free yet flavorful, consider adding a splash of vanilla or orange extract to the tea infusion.
- This tiramisu is best served chilled and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
