Description

Creamy Garlic Parmesan Shrimp is a luscious and flavorful dish featuring tender shrimp cooked to perfection in a rich, garlicky Parmesan cream sauce. Ready in just 20 minutes, this easy stovetop recipe is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner and pairs beautifully with pasta, rice, or crusty bread.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Sauce

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Cook Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add shrimp and cook for 1–2 minutes per side until pink and just cooked through. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Sauté Garlic: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant, taking care not to burn it.
  3. Prepare Cream Sauce: Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer. Stir in Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes if using. Let the sauce simmer for 2–3 minutes until it slightly thickens.
  4. Combine Shrimp and Sauce: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and stir gently to coat them evenly with the creamy sauce. Simmer for another minute to heat the shrimp through.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the dish. Serve immediately over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of white wine before adding the cream to the sauce.
  • Enhance the dish by stirring in baby spinach or sun-dried tomatoes along with the cream.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for the best texture and taste.
