Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Chicken and Cheese Pastry Rolls featuring flaky puff pastry filled with a creamy mixture of cooked chicken, cheese, and spices. Perfect as appetizers, snacks, or a tasty lunchbox treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Pastry

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)

Filling

  • 1 cup cooked chicken (shredded or finely chopped)
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (optional for creaminess)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Topping

  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked chicken, shredded cheese, cream cheese, optional mayonnaise, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until everything is well incorporated.
  3. Prepare Pastry Strips: Unroll the thawed puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface. Cut the sheet into 3 or 4 long strips, each about 3 inches wide, for easy rolling.
  4. Fill and Roll: Spoon the chicken and cheese mixture evenly down the center of each pastry strip. Carefully fold the pastry over the filling to form a log shape. Press the edges firmly to seal the rolls and place them seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Egg Wash and Toppings: Brush the top of each roll with the beaten egg wash for a golden finish. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or poppy seeds if desired for extra texture and flavor.
  6. Bake: Place the rolls in the oven and bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed up and golden brown.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the rolls to cool slightly after baking, then slice into portions and serve warm for the best taste experience.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add cooked spinach, diced jalapeños, or chopped herbs to the chicken mixture.
  • These rolls make great party snacks or delicious lunchbox treats.
