Ingredients
Scale
Meat and Dairy
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Vegetables and Aromatics
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Seasonings
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Optional
- 1 cup cooked rice
- Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess grease if necessary to reduce fat.
- Sauté vegetables: Add chopped onion, diced red and green bell peppers, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes until the vegetables have softened and the onions become translucent.
- Season the mixture: Stir in Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add the cooked rice if using, and combine everything thoroughly.
- Melt the cheese: Lower the heat to low. Evenly sprinkle shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses over the beef and vegetable mixture in the skillet. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it sit for 2 to 3 minutes, allowing the cheeses to melt completely into a gooey, delicious topping.
- Garnish and serve: If desired, sprinkle chopped parsley on top for a fresh, herbaceous finish. Serve the dish warm, either on its own or accompanied by your favorite side such as pasta, rice, or sandwich rolls.
