Ingredients
Scale
For the crust:
- 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
For the brownie layer:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- â…“ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
For the pecan pie layer:
- ¾ cup light corn syrup
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1½ cups pecan halves
Instructions
- Prepare the crust: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges as desired. Set aside.
- Make the brownie layer: In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until combined. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth. Stir in the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, and salt until just incorporated. Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared pie crust’s bottom.
- Make the pecan pie layer: In a separate bowl, whisk together the light corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter until smooth. Stir in the pecan halves until they are evenly coated with the mixture. Gently spoon this pecan pie filling over the brownie layer, taking care not to disturb the bottom layer.
- Bake the pie: Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips and bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden and slightly puffed. If the crust edges begin to brown too quickly, cover them with foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
- Cool and serve: Allow the pie to cool completely to let the layers set properly. Serve at room temperature or slightly warmed, optionally with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent finish.
Notes
- For a richer chocolate flavor, mix chocolate chips into the brownie batter.
- This pie can be prepared a day in advance and stored either at room temperature or refrigerated.
- Cover crust edges with foil if browning too fast during baking.
- Serving with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream enhances the flavor.
