Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and lightly grease a muffin tin or line it with paper liners to prepare for baking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar until evenly combined. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese to ensure it’s well distributed throughout the mixture.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix together the melted unsalted butter and buttermilk until well blended.
- Form the Batter: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, gently stirring just until combined. Be careful not to overmix to keep the biscuits tender.
- Spoon into Muffin Tin: Spoon the biscuit batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about three-quarters full for nicely shaped biscuits.
- Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the biscuits cool slightly before serving warm for the best texture and flavor.
Notes
- For extra flavor, brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder or dried parsley immediately after baking.
- These biscuits pair wonderfully with BBQ dishes, hearty soups, or as part of a breakfast spread.
- To ensure the cheese melts evenly, shred it yourself or use pre-shredded sharp cheddar.
